Three Eras of Legal Excellence
From Pakistan's earliest medicolegal cases to the Supreme Court — seven decades of distinguished practice.
1950 – 1983
Foundation Era
The Late Mr. Justice R. Ibadat Yar Khan founded the firm in 1950, handling Pakistan's first medicolegal and Third-Party cases. Having been elected President of the Aligarh Muslim University Union in 1947, he brought formidable leadership to Pakistan's nascent legal landscape.
1983 – 1999
Judiciary Era
Justice Ibadat Yar Khan was appointed Judge of the High Court of Sindh in 1983, and later served as Judge of the Federal Shariat Court from 1988. His judicial service elevated the prestige of the firm and cemented his legacy as a foundational figure in Pakistan's judiciary.
1999 – Present
Modern Era
Mr. Saadat Yar Khan took the helm in 1999, expanding the firm's litigation practice across civil, corporate, taxation, and constitutional matters. Today, Barrister Mr. Wajahat Yar Khan — the designated successor — is bringing fresh expertise and energy to carry the legacy forward.
Our Founder
Late Mr. Justice R. Ibadat Yar Khan
July 1925 – Rampur, UP, India
Born in July 1925 in Rampur, UP, India, Justice Ibadat Yar Khan was educated at Islamia High School, Bareilly before enrolling at Aligarh Muslim University from 1941 to 1947, where he obtained his LLB. His leadership was recognised early — he was elected Vice President and later President of the AMU Student Union under Vice-Chancellor Sir Zia Uddin, a remarkable achievement that presaged his distinguished career.
After registering as an Advocate in Rampur State in March 1948, he migrated to the newly formed Pakistan and established Yar Khan & Co. in Karachi in 1950. From the outset, he handled cases of national significance, including Pakistan's first medicolegal and Third-Party cases, helping to shape the early jurisprudence of the country.
Justice Yar Khan was entrusted with the first edition of Maulana Maududi's Tafseer and received acknowledgment in the book “Qadiyaniat in the Eyes of Law.”These associations reflect the depth of his scholarly standing and moral authority.
In 1983, he was appointed Judge of the High Court of Sindh, and from 1988 served as Judge of the Federal Shariat Court — a judicial career that cemented his place as one of the most distinguished jurists in Pakistan's history.
